Experience the Magic of Tamil Nadu Hills & Kerala Backwaters
Your grand 9-day journey commences at Coimbatore, the textile capital of South India. Upon your arrival at the airport or railway station, you will be cordially received by our professional chauffeur. We will proceed towards Palani, home to the world-famous Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple. Perched atop a hill, this temple is one of the six sacred abodes of Lord Murugan. You can choose to reach the hilltop via a scenic winch or cable car ride, offering a bird's eye view of the surrounding plains.
After a soul-stirring darshan, we continue our drive towards Kodaikanal. As we ascend the Palani hills, the air turns crisp and the scenery transforms into lush greenery. Along the way, we stop at the Silver Cascade Falls, a majestic 180-foot waterfall. Upon reaching Kodaikanal, check into your resort and enjoy a tranquil evening by the star-shaped Kodai Lake. Overnight stay in Kodaikanal.
Spend a full day exploring the hidden gems of the "Princess of Hill Stations." After breakfast, we visit the Coaker’s Walk, a narrow pedestrian path offering a panoramic view of the plains. We then stroll through Bryant Park, a botanical wonderland with a massive collection of hybrid roses and dahlias. The journey continues to the Pillar Rocks, where three massive granite boulders stand tall at 400 feet, often shrouded in mysterious mist.
Later, we explore the Guna Caves and the Pine Forests, a favorite location for film directors. Visit the Green Valley View, which provides a breathtaking drop view of the Vaigai Dam. We conclude the day with a visit to the Upper Lake View point to appreciate the unique geography of the region. The evening is yours to explore the local market for homemade chocolates and aromatic oils. Overnight stay in Kodaikanal.
Today, we bid farewell to Tamil Nadu and enter the "God’s Own Country," Kerala. The drive from Kodaikanal to Munnar is one of the most scenic routes in South India, characterized by winding roads, tea plantations, and distant waterfalls. Munnar, situated at the confluence of three mountain streams, was once the summer resort of the British Government in South India.
Upon arrival, the sprawling tea estates will welcome you with their refreshing aroma. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, soaking in the cool mountain climate. You may choose to visit the local Munnar town for some spice shopping. Overnight stay in Munnar.
After breakfast, embark on a full-day tour of Munnar's breathtaking attractions. We start at the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Next, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history and processing of tea in the Nilgiris. We then proceed to Mattupetty Dam and its beautiful lake, where you can enjoy an optional boat ride.
The afternoon highlights include Echo Point, where your voice resonates through the hills, and the scenic Kundala Lake. On our return journey, we stop at the Photo Point for some memorable clicks amidst the velvet-green tea gardens. Witness the Rose Garden and the Blossom Park before heading back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Munnar.
We continue our Kerala expedition towards Thekkady, a journey through spice-scented plantations and misty valleys. Thekkady is famous for the Periyar National Park, one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and freshen up.
In the afternoon, enjoy a Boat Safari on the Periyar Lake (subject to availability), where you might spot herds of wild elephants, sambar deer, and various bird species by the water's edge. Later, visit a Spice Plantation to see how cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon are grown. In the evening, witness a traditional Kathakali dance performance or a Kalaripayattu martial arts show. Overnight stay in Thekkady.
After breakfast, we head towards the enchanting backwaters of Alleppey (Alappuzha). This is one of the most anticipated parts of the tour. Upon arrival, board a traditional Kerala Houseboat (Kettuvallam). As the boat glides through the narrow canals, you can witness the rustic life of rural Kerala—paddy fields, coconut groves, and local fishermen at work.
Enjoy a delicious Kerala-style lunch served on the boat. The houseboat will cruise through the vast Vembanad Lake, providing a serene and romantic atmosphere. Spend the evening on the deck watching the sunset over the horizon. Dinner and overnight stay will be on the houseboat, gently floating on the calm waters. Overnight stay in Alleppey.
Disembark from the houseboat after breakfast and proceed towards the capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum). On our way, we stop at the world-famous Kovalam Beach. This crescent-shaped beach is known for its shallow waters and low tidal waves, making it perfect for a relaxing swim or sunbathing.
Visit the Lighthouse Beach and the Hawah Beach. Enjoy the refreshing sea breeze and the sight of coconut trees lining the shore. Later in the evening, we reach Trivandrum and check into the hotel. If time permits, you can enjoy a quiet evening walk. Overnight stay in Trivandrum.
Today is dedicated to exploring the rich heritage of Trivandrum. We start with the magnificent Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the richest temple in the world. (Please note the strict dress code for entry). Marvel at the 18-foot deity of Lord Vishnu in a reclining posture. Next, visit the Napier Museum, an architectural masterpiece housing a rare collection of archaeological and historical artifacts.
We also visit the Kuthira Malika (Horse Palace), known for its intricate wood carvings. Later, explore the Zoological Park and the Priyadarshini Planetarium. End your day with some traditional shopping at the local markets for Kerala sarees and handicrafts. Overnight stay in Trivandrum.
On the final day of your memorable 9-day tour, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Spend some time reflecting on the wonderful memories created from the hills of Tamil Nadu to the backwaters of Kerala. Depending on your travel schedule, our representative will transfer you to Trivandrum International Airport or the Railway Station for your onward journey.
